  3. You have downloaded the following items:
  4.     • BeyondMeasure™ 1.0.
  5.     • Beyond XTensions™ Order Form - A QuarkXPress 3.3 document to use when ordering.

  7. To Install BeyondMeasure:
  8. Simply drag it into your QuarkXPress 3.3 “XTensions” folder and launch QuarkXPress.

  11. To Use Floating Rulers:
  12. • Choose “Show Floating Rulers”, under the View Menu.
  13. • Use the following keys to test Floating Ruler features:
  14.     Click and Drag                    Move ruler
  15.     Shift-Click and Drag        Move both rulers
  16.     Command-Click                  Snap ruler to current box or document edge
  17.     Command-Shift-Click    Snap both rulers
  18.   Control-Click                             Create guideline on ruler
  19.     Option-Click                       Delete horizontal or vertical guides on current page or spread
  20.     Option-Shift-Click             Delete all guides on current page or spread
  21.   Double-Click                       Bring up Preferences Dialog

  23. To Use the Measure Tool:
  24. • Click on the Measure Tool in the tool palette to measure between two points in a document.
  25. • Click on the first point, hold the mouse button, and drag the pointer to the second point to see the horizontal width, vertical height, total distance and angle.

  27. To Use Instant Dimensions:
  28. • Double-click on Floating Rulers or the Measure Tool to bring up BeyondMeasure Preferences.
  29. • Check “Instant Dimensions” to enable.
  30. • Use the Font and Size pop-ups to set the font and size of the Instant Dimensions display. 
  31. • When you create, move or resize a text or picture box, you will see Instant Dimensions.

  33. To Use the Other Features in BeyondMeasure:
  34. • Double-click on Floating Rulers or the Measure Tool to bring up BeyondMeasure Preferences.
  35. • Check “Use Document Origin” for rulers which measure relative to the origin of the current document.
  36. • Check “Auto-Snap” for rulers which snap to the currently selected item or to the edge of the document. Note: when Auto-Snap is turned on, rulers can’t be moved by hand. Click on a ruler to create a guide, or double-click to bring up BeyondMeasure Preferences.
  37. • Check “Ticks on Opposite Side” to measure the bottom or right side of an item. Rulers will now snap to the bottom-right of the selected item.
  38. • Use the Color pop-up to set the color of the rulers.
